Venue : Baselious marthoma matews II training college kottarakkara -Seminar hall
Resource person: Bhuvanendhran nair
Today, our college conducted a Musical Workshop at the seminar hall as part of our B.Ed curriculum. As future educators, we are taught various teaching strategies, and music is one such creative method to deliver concepts effectively.
The workshop began at 9:45 AM, with Dr. Thottathil Bhuvanendran Nair as the resource person. Dr. Nair is a highly respected teacher, poet, lyricist, drama researcher, and media professional. He has contributed extensively to literature and the cultural field, earning numerous honors, including the prestigious Lohithadas Award for Best Lyricist and the Veda Shri Award.
During the session, Dr. Nair discussed innovative teaching strategies and ways to capture students' attention. He also shared tips on incorporating music into teaching to make learning more engaging.
After the theory session, it was time for us to put our learning into practice. We were divided into groups, and each group was tasked with creating a musical version of a concept from the 8th, 9th, or 10th standard SCERT Biology textbooks. Around 19 groups participated in the activity, and each performance was rated by Dr. Nair.
My group, number 14, chose the topic "Reaping Diversity" from the 8th standard SCERT Biology textbook (Unit: "Let's Regain Our Field"). After our performance, we received a score of 4 out of 5.
It was a wonderful experience that allowed us to explore new ways of teaching and to have fun while learning!
