MICROTEACHING

 SKILL OF PROBING QUESTIONING

On June 12, 2024, I participated in a micro teaching session as part of the B.Ed curriculum. The objective was to demonstrate one teaching skill effectively. I chose to focus on the skill of probing questioning, using the topic of the food chain to illustrate my approach.

My session was scheduled as follows:

Subject: Natural Science

Time: 10:15– 10.30AM

Name: Anupriya P

Student Audience:

Eng-SR SREELEKSHMI, MEKHANA

Mal-NIRANJANA R

SS- SREEJIТНА SREEJITHA

Maths - NAVANEETH A O, DEVIKA MURALI

PS- REESAMOL

I designed my lesson plan to incorporate the skill of probing questioning to engage students deeply with the content. Probing questioning involves asking follow-up questions that require students to think more critically and provide more detailed responses. This technique helps students explore concepts thoroughly and understand the underlying principles.

Lesson Content: The Food Chain

During my session, I used the food chain as the teaching topic. I introduced the basic concept of the food chain, explaining how energy is transferred from one organism to another within an ecosystem. The key points covered included:

  • Definition of a food chain
  • Primary producers, consumers, and decomposers
  • Examples of food chains in different ecosystems
  • The importance of each link in maintaining ecological balance
The feedback from both the teacher and peers indicated that the class was conducted excellently. This micro teaching experience was invaluable in honing my teaching skills, particularly in the area of questioning techniques. The positive feedback reinforced the effectiveness of my approach, and I plan to incorporate these techniques into my future teaching practices.

By continuously refining the microteaching skills, I aim to become a more effective and engaging educator.
