The much-awaited Arts Fest 2024 at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College, Kottarakkara, kicked off with vibrant energy on August 23rd and continued across multiple days, creating an atmosphere of creativity, competition, and celebration. The events on August 30th marked the grand finale, packed with performances that showcased the immense talent of the students.

The Arts Fest 2024 at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College, Kottarakkara, was an electrifying showcase of the diverse talents of students. Aptly named "ഭേരി", which translates to "a grand instrument, a majestic resonance", the event lived up to its name by offering a platform for students to express themselves in a variety of artistic forms. The fest was organized by the Nitara College Union 2023-24, and the celebrations were spread across multiple days, including August 23, 27, 29, and 30, filled with both writing and stage performances.

Programme Inauguration

The grand inauguration of Arts Fest 2024 took place on August 29, 2024, with much enthusiasm and participation. The program began with a beautiful prayer song by Devika Murali, setting a spiritual tone for the day. The Welcome Speech was delivered by Riju John, the college principal, who highlighted the importance of cultural activities in developing well-rounded individuals and encouraged all students to take part in the celebrations wholeheartedly.

Jaison Rajan, the chairman of the Nitara College Union 2023-24, delivered the Presidential Address, reflecting on the union's efforts in making the fest a reality and fostering an environment of camaraderie and healthy competition.

The Inauguration was graced by S.R. Ramesh, the Municipal Chairman of Kottarakkara, who officially opened the fest with an inspiring message. He emphasized the role of cultural events in student life and encouraged everyone to embrace their creative potential. The Keynote Address was delivered by Fr. M. Jacob, the Administrator of the college, who also underscored the holistic development that arts and culture bring into education.

Several notable faculty members offered their felicitations, including Nisha Mohammad T., Dr. Praveena M., and Harivind Nath V. B., all of whom motivated students to give their best and reminded them that participation is more valuable than winning.

The inauguration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Akhil Krishnan R., the Arts Club Secretary, who expressed gratitude to the guests, faculty, and organizing team for their efforts in bringing the arts fest to life.

Programme and Events

The arts fest was a meticulously planned event with a wide range of competitions, both in writing and stage performances. The writing competitions were held on August 23 and 27, 2024, with enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines. These contests allowed students to showcase their skills in poetry, short story writing, essay competitions, and other creative literary formats.

On August 29, 2024, the stage came alive with vibrant performances across multiple categories. The stage items included group and solo performances, ranging from music and instrumental music to group song,Thiruvathira, fancy dress, elocution, rangoli and monoact.Students dazzled the audience with their talent, creativity, and passion, making the day an unforgettable experience.

The final day of the fest, August 30, 2024, promises to be a fitting conclusion to this cultural extravaganza, with more stage events and the much-awaited award distribution ceremony, where the best performers will be recognized for their exceptional skills.

True to its name, "ഭേരി" became the heartbeat of the campus, reverberating with the sounds of creativity and artistic expression. The dedication of the Nitara College Union 2023-24 was evident in the seamless execution of events, and the support of the faculty further strengthened the spirit of the arts fest.

FAIRWELL 🩵

Farewell Party at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College:
"Padiyirakkam"

The farewell party, aptly named "Padiyirakkam," was held in honor of the seniors from the 2022-2024 batch at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College, Kottarakkara. Organized by the juniors of the 2023-2025 batch, the event took place in the beautifully decorated seminar hall.

The celebration began after lunch, which was provided by the us to express their gratitude to the seniors. Lunch was served from 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM, and shortly afterward, the formal program kicked off at 2:30 PM, running until 4:00 PM.

The highlight of "Padiyirakkam" was the heartfelt sharing of experiences. Teachers reminisced about their time with the seniors and offered words of encouragement and advice. Following this, we staged a variety of performances to entertain and honor the seniors. The seniors, in turn, reflected on their two years at the college, sharing valuable insights and advice for the juniors, enriching the event with both nostalgia and inspiration.

The farewell was a memorable occasion, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for the seniors and for us ensured it was a day filled with warmth, gratitude, and lasting memories.

FRESHERS DAY 🎊

 Freshers’ Day Celebration at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College, Kottarakkara


The vibrant and energetic freshers’ party at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College, Kottarakkara, marked a delightful beginning for the juniors of the 2024-2026 batch. Held in the beautifully decorated seminar hall,The union's effort in organizing the event ensured a heartfelt and joyous freshers day party.The seniors of the 2023-2025 batch took the lead in organizing a memorable welcome. Every detail, from the décor to the program lineup, reflected their enthusiasm and thoughtfulness.

As part of extending a warm welcome, we provided refreshments, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The event’s highlight was the variety of fun tasks designed for the juniors. These tasks, filled with excitement, helped break the ice, allowing the new batch to shed their stage fear and boost their confidence. It also provided them a platform to showcase their hidden talents, making it an enriching experience for all.

In addition to these interactive activities, the we put on spectacular dance performances, which added energy and joy to the gathering. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie between the seniors and juniors, creating a lively atmosphere where everyone could bond and form lasting relationships.

The freshers’ party turned out to be a beautiful day of connection, fun, and celebration, marking the beginning of a promising academic journey for the 2024-2026 batch.

BREAST FEEDING 🤱WEEK CELEBRATION

In a significant event to promote the benefits of breastfeeding, Baselios Marthoma Mathews II College of Teacher Education, in collaboration with ICDS Kottarakkara and POSHAN Abhiyaan, celebrated World Breastfeeding Week from August 1 to August 7, 2024. The theme for this year, "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All," aims to bridge the gaps in breastfeeding support worldwide.

The highlight of the celebration was a seminar held on August 6, 2024, at 2 PM. Dr. Ajith, a renowned pediatrician from Taluk Hospital Kottarakkara, graced the event as the chief resource person. Dr. Ajith's insightful talk covered various aspects of breastfeeding, emphasizing its critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of both infants and mothers.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and community members, all eager to learn and promote the importance of breastfeeding. The discussions were enriched by Dr. Ajith's expertise, providing practical advice and addressing common concerns related to breastfeeding practices.

The event also featured interactive sessions where participants could ask questions and share their experiences, fostering a supportive environment for new and expectant mothers. Additionally, informative posters and brochures were distributed, highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding and providing resources for further support.

ECO CLUB 🍏


In commemoration of Hiroshima Day, the third-semester B.Ed students at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II College of Teacher Education (BMMTC) conducted an impactful Eco Club inauguration. This initiative, spearheaded by the B.Ed trainees, aimed to foster environmental awareness and sustainability within the college community.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by Jaison, setting the tone for the day's activities. The Eco Club, convened by Alen John, was officially inaugurated by the esteemed Principal of the college, Riju John. In his address, Principal Riju John emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and the pivotal role that educational institutions play in nurturing eco-conscious citizens.

Following the inauguration, the students actively participated in cleaning the entire college surroundings, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a clean and green environment. The highlight of the event was the planting of various plants around the campus, symbolizing growth, renewal, and a commitment to a sustainable future.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Alan, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success. HIROSHIMA DAY💥

On Hiroshima Day, the B.Ed trainees at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II College of Teacher Education (BMMTC) organized a meaningful program to remember the tragic events of August 6, 1945. This event was conducted by the students of the Social Science option and aimed to foster awareness about the consequences of nuclear warfare and the importance of peace.

  • The students showcased their artistic skills and conveyed powerful messages through a  poster,which been displayed infront of the seminar hall.

  • A solemn pledge was taken by all attendees, reaffirming their commitment to promoting peace and preventing the recurrence of such a devastating event. The pledge served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to work towards a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.

  • In an effort to engage the mind and promote strategic thinking, a Sudoku presentation was held. This activity symbolized the need for critical thinking and problem-solving skills in addressing global issues, much like the complexities involved in maintaining world peace.

  • The program featured compelling speeches by students and faculty members, reflecting on the historical significance of Hiroshima Day. The speakers highlighted the importance of remembering the past to prevent future atrocities and underscored the role of education in cultivating a culture of peace.

The Hiroshima Day program at BMMTC was a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of nuclear warfare and a call to action for all individuals to contribute to a more peaceful and just world.
